Nilandhoo Council
A council answers to the people who live on the island. The site had to speak to them first, in their own language.
The brief
The Secretariat of the Nilandhoo Council, North Nilandhe Atholhu, needed a public record: announcements, programmes, and council activity, published in Dhivehi for residents and in English where an outside reader needs it. Government sites carry an obligation ordinary sites do not — the information has to be findable and unambiguous.
What we built
- HomeA bilingual masthead in Dhivehi and English, so an outside reader knows whose site this is.
- CouncilMembers, the council office, and its staff are listed, so a resident knows who is responsible for what.
- Decisions, Minutes, and ReportsCouncil decisions, meeting minutes, regulations, and reports published as downloads, so the public record is findable, not scattered.
- NilandhooThe island's history, institutions, clubs, and businesses in one place for residents and visitors.
- Women's Development CommitteeIts own page for the committee's notices and work.
Notable
WordPress with Elementor, so council staff publish notices directly without a developer.
Starting a business and a website at the same time?
That is the easy version. Company registration and the site that sells it, from one team.
